Best and worst in Toronto

In a recent study sponsored by Toronto Life in 2014 Toronto’s Best and (Worst) Places to Live  our city of Toronto was broken down into 6 categories.

Housing, People, Crime, Money, Schools and Transit. This blog will feature where we as Etobians rank in the top percentages or numbers in all of the categories researched.

Housing points out that the fewest number of Condos are in the super suburban pocket of Princess Rosethorn. The most 3 bedroom homes,52% are in Eringate Centennial Park district in West Etobicoke.

Kingsway South has the most expensive Real Estate in the west end of the city(west of Yonge Street) at $1.4 million and climbing. The best housing stock (homes that do not require major repair) ranks Princess Rosethorn at 97.6% second highest in the city to Willowdale East.

The most expensive rent in the city ranks Kingsway South second only to the Bridal Path.

In the People category, Most Families live in ranks Kingsway South 3rd after Bridal Path, Forest Hill with an 89.3% rate.

The whitest neighbourhood in the city is Kingsway South at $91.4%. The most divorces live in New Toronto, Mimico  at only 10%.

In the Crime Category, the safest neighbourhood is Humber Heights- Westmount. Islington was number 2 in the break and enter  with 207 occurrences after Bedford Park. The number of thefts ranks West Humber /Clairville #1 with 424.

In the Money category, the highest employment rate is in Kingsway South.

In the Schools category, the most west end grads come from Kingsway South at 89%.The fastest improving schools rank North Kipling (Fraser Institute Scores) rising from just over 4% in 2010 to over 7% in 2014.

In the Transit Category none of Etobicoke’s districts is high or low ranking in the best for transit, most/less reliable, or the busiest bus routes. However, they do review two people from our neighbourhoods about their transit woes and the time it takes them to travel back and forth to home.

Now if you go to our website  each Neighbourhood(community) page will have at the bottom of it how each neighbourhood ranks in all of these categories against the rest of Toronto and the GTA.

Just click on The Toronto Life Neighbourhood Rankings and it will show you the breakdown for each of our neighbourhoods. The one featured here is of Princess Rosethorn in Central Etobicoke.
